— y . NEW PREMISES IN VIEW.' THE ANNUAL MEETING. _Tho Civil Service Club Has a membership of nearly 300. It is probable that this number may bp doubled when the club enters tlio palatial premises adjoining the Public Trust Department s new building, which aro expected to bo ready for it by the end of August.- ' The vision of the Club's future splendour was before its members when they crowded— as many of them as could—int-o their present small assembly-room last evening to attend the annual: meeting. ■: The president (Or. Mason) was in tho. chair. I'u) view of the new expenses which the Uub s expansion will entail, it was; resolved, oil tho recommendation of the Retiring committoe, that tho entranco fee and subscription bo each increased from £1 13. to £2 2s. after September 30. The new rules adopted at a special general meeting were confirmed. : The report and balance-sheet (already published) were adopted. It was decided that the secrotary bo a paid officer, and that the amount of his remuneration be fixed by the committee. Tho following were appointed as a General Committee: — Messrs. D. Campbell,<C. E. J - Kinniburgh, J.F. H MCarthy, W. H. Shore, C. H. W..Dixon, and Wallace.

Mr;; J. M'Lean, chairman of the previou committee, did not submit himself for re section. He was accorded very heart' thanks for his past services. The other officers wore all re-elected. ihe new club-rooms will contain residentia on the second floor, which will.be lo' to members at a. very reasonable rental Upon the first floor will be a billiard room oart. long ana 30ft. wide, containing thr<x tables, and lighted with windows at eacl end,and a large dome in the centre of the ceding to convey light from the top of the building. Upon the first floor also will be round a commodious and pleasantly situated reading and writing room, 22ft. by 14ft., ad]oinmg a library 24ft. by 17ft., which will be stocked as quickly as possible with the 11? matter . obtainable. A social ball, 32ft. by 21ft., connected with the library by folding doors, so that when required a room 56rt. long will be availablo for entertainments and meetings, will also meet a long-felt want. Upon the ground floor, immediately inside the main entrance, will bo a room in which members may entertain strangers. Further inside is a room which will bo used principally as a private loungo; and which will bo cosily furnished to suit its requirements. Adjoining this will be' the general loungo and refreshment room. The main staircase is of easy grade, and is carried right up to tho roof, which, being flat, will provide a pleasant outdoor lounge during the summer evenings. Tho premises will bo held on a Glasgow lease, with terms of seven years instead of 21,
