At the inquest into tho. circumstances of the Braybrook 'disaster, the ' service' record of' Milburn, ( driver of the Bendigo train (which crashed into tho illfated Ballarat train), was put in evidence. It showed that between January, 1888, and July, 1906, Milburn was cautioned or punished, fourteen times' for carelessness whilo driving, the punishment including fines in two instances for passing danger signals, In one case where he did so tho engine ran off tho rails. In 1896, .for runnjng- tho Governor's special at an excessive speed, ho was ordered to be relieved of the duty. of driving important spjx:ials. .
