A drunken affray occurred at Casablanca botween Riff sharpshooters in the Spanish service and French Zouaves. Several shots were fired, and two' French 'soldiors wore killed, besides a Spanish corporal, who intervened to stop the quarrel. Several were wounded. Tho Spanish Premier, Sonor Maura, states that the incident does not affect tho pordial relations of tho two countries. The Biff tribes inhabit chiefly a range of mountains in northern Morocco, nearly, parallel with the Mediterranean coast. Acts of aggression by them led to complications between Spain and Morocco in J893.
