. OPERA HOUSE,. ' Tho thrilling drama, "The. Heart of iv Horo," drew another large audienco.at tho Opera House last evening.. The, Edwin Geaeh Dramatic Company havo certainly succeeded in making a decided hit with thoso who'delight in a- good'-strong drama, " with a spectacular villainwho endeavours to dircct the courso of true lovo to suit his own dark purposes, .a sturdy horo who breaks a lanco for the weak and oppressed, a' lovely heroine, and. tho usual accessories-as a convenient' background for. the principals. "In Jem Resdale and May Ryder pure innocenco is 'personified. Mr. .Harry Diver 'makes' a hero ; after drama-devotee's own. heart—r tense,.declamatory, do-or-die. Good'work .is also done by- Miss 1 Burdette, Miss. Georgine .Temperley, Mr. K. Hunter, and Mr. Wilton Welch. ■ The drama will be presented for the last time to-morrow e\ cnirig, ■. and on Saturday . evening the Company will stage the new four-act'comedy drama, "Tho Midnight Hour." : THEATRE ROYAL. An uninterrupted run of popularity, has followed upon tho latest programmo 'presented to patrons of vaudeville' entertainment by Messrs. Fuller. It is a, "programme for all," so states the - managementMr. Charles P. Bates, i an American comediaiV and monologue-artist of repute, and Denis Carney, the Yorkshire comedian, with his new' budget of comicalities, are star items on an oxccllent and varied programme. Carl Brasso is well worth seeing for his sensational performances on the tight wire. Tho Marlowo Sisters are old-estab-lished favourites, as aro also Harry Salmon and Miss Ida Chestor, whose comedy "Tho Blacksmith's Boy" is a feature of tho entertainment. Bryant, the axe swinger and knife juggler, is another performer who deservos mention. These aro ably supported by others. Mr. Bert Royle has received information from Auckland to the effect that the concluding performance of. the Julius Knight season was a sensational success. The entiro dress circle and stalls were booked at ss. (ovor 1000 seats), and all tho boxes wore full at 10s. This constitutes-a record in receipts for tho company by 'over £50.
