MISSIONS TO SEAMEN.
,-The. Missions to Seamen' Institute was crowdcd to the doors last night, wlien Mr. Palmer-provided a ,concert. Tho.MisSioner, Mr. James Moore, occupied the chair,, ahd during a short interval delivered an address in relation to tho temperance question. Ten men subsequently signed the pledge of total abstinence as'a result of the address.- Sailors from tho Turnkina won a conundrum cpmpctifcion, and Mr. Crawley (Paparoa) was awarded a prize for tho best temperance recitation. Several popular , choruses were sung'by the audience, under tho guidance of tho Missiorior, in good style. . Tho following contributed items to tlio programmo: Misses Grace Bcck, Palmer, Gallalior, Myrtle Tonks, Tipling, Kinniborg; Messrs. Kerr, and Crawley (Paparoa). Miss Maloney. acted as acoompanist. Every item was encored. Tho performers were accorded a hearty voto of thanks at tho close of the concert, and vo-' froahmonts were dispensed. . . ■ .
