Tho decision of tho. The 'number of men enrolled considerably exceeded the minimum strength required, and as for tho-nature of tho proposed corps it has been stated officially that ■mounted men are particularly required for dcfenco purposes. . I understand that the Salvation Army has practically raised all tho 'money needed for tho..purchase and equipment of the Home for Girls at Middlemarch. Seamen aro hard to obtain in Dunedin.
