At the inquiry concerning tho foundering of ~the Illawarra Company's steamer Bega oft the South Coast, on April 5, Mr. Recks, a naval architect, gave evidence that he had formed the opinion that the vessel, being a " tender" ship, was loaded in a manner which made her "cranky." When she listed 6he took ill a quantity ■of • ■ water through tho port-holes, which made her more unstable.' :
