The friendly ■ societies ask Mr. Asquith, in awarding old-age pensions, not to talco into account income received from friendly societies or trades unions. Opponents of tho scheme declare that if tho ten shillings limit is ignored for one form of thrift it. mast be ignored for others, liko the Savings Bank. It is estimated that there are in England and Wales 58,000 persons in receipt of'pensions from friendly societies or trades unions.
