"THE DOMINION."
ITS OHALLENCE UNANSWERED. A HINT TO ADVERTISERS. Tho claim put forward by "The Dominion" to have the largest circulation of any mornIng paper in the V/ellington province remains undisputed. The announcement on the subject was tnade on' Friday last, and tho " New Zealand Times''-took-tho earliest opportunity (Saturday), of proclaiming that it had tho largest ■" fully-paid" circulation of any morning paper in the Wellington province; On ; the llohday following, in tho course of a reference to.thomatter, wo published the . following 'comments \ and challenge:— " What our contemporary meant by 'fully-paid.circulation'we do not know. . Apparently-;it admits that 'Tho Do■f-. minion' has a large!- circulation than the 'Now Zealand-s Times 1 can claim credit for, but suggests that' ' The Dominion'does not receive full payment for : Its papers. Coming, from our morning contemporary, this latter suggestion is amusing. s .,Tho matter, howevor, can'bo tesjted, in yery;simple fashion. , Wo are prepared '. to submit, to an independent Investigation of tho circulation of 'Tho ' Dominion ( provided the, 'New Zealand ; is prepared ,to submit to a |S|mSlar'irivsstlgatlcn of. its paper's . oiroulatlori. V,-There -need; be no.I delay— tha question can bo softled Immodiatoly. ■ Advertisers will then sso where their best Interests lie." ■ Wo; respqnso has bijen made to this chal-, ■ lenge. ■; >- • Our contemporary is ready enough with assertion and innuendo,, but when it is afforded , the'opportunity of proving its assertions and justifying its inniiendos it is discreetly silent. The: roason-is obvious. " The Dominion " has the largest clr- : cuiation of any morning paper in tho Wellington provinco. . " The Dominion " has tho largest number of subscribers of any morning paper in the V/ellington provinco. i " Tho Dominion " has tho largest number of, fully-paid subscribers of any morniiig paper in the Wellington province. " the Dominion " is the widest read of any morning paper in the Weilington - provinco. . These' are definite enough declarations— ihey leavo .no loophole for evasion. . Our challengo is still open.
