They wero not ordained to teach sociology, science, astrology, or any other 'ology, and the church which did not make conversions was of 110 use for anything else. He told an anecdote of a famous ecclesiastic, who asked ;wliy, when so many ministers were speaking of tile times, one poor minister might not be allowed to speak of eternity. ' He urged on' members of the congregation the necessity of attending, .not one Sunday servico, but all the services. Ho also stated that it would be easy for him to show that', in every way tho world was improving, and tli'ey were living in a great time, which afforded splendid opportunities for good. . Tho Rev. J. Dawson (Primitive Methodist), in a very short address', congratulated tho congregation, and. tirged that, tlio great' needs of' the Clnirdh wero loyalty J unity; progress, and spirituality. ;. ' v. Tlio Revs. W. A. Evans and J. ,/Reed Glasson gave addresses'; which were models' of brevity. Mr. Evans expressed his pleasure at tho optimistic tone which liad characterised, the proceedings '.'in ' general," and Mr. Glasson uttered a Warning against the perils of self-complacency.
