THE DISPOSAL OF THE CLIP.

- Sir,—The thanks of all thosq interested in farm products are due to you for the full and able reports appearing in your, columns,' and' which, as a rule, are fairly correct. The disposal of a clip. is always a serious question to a wool-grower, an a letter from a firm like Messrs. WiHans and, Overbury, should bo. a 3uro guide in this direction, but it is only correct so far as it goes, and I beg out that :if t-licy. had wished to'givo a fully impartial 'statement of the position thoy -should hare takon into, consideration the dip of tho United Kingdom. This firm states that the bulk of the New Zealand 1 wools are offered in tho-earlier sales of tlio year in London, and they agreo with your suggestion that tlio .exports of wool from New Zealand should' bo arranged so that a more even distribution . should .tako, placo in London throughout the.year., '

I would say at once that it is to the advantage of tho New Zealand grower that his clip should bo marketed certainly not later than July, ot-horwise it somes into competition with tho English clip, which is a larger one than that from this Dominion, and, as both clips aro about tho sariio 'average in fineness, it will bo seen .that tho remark of •Messrs. Willans' and Overbury that there aro throo months of plonty and three months of scarcity, is not true in point of fact regarding tho i actual' wool availablo for British manufacturers. It is well known that tho London brokers aro using every endeavour to have evII wool sold in London, and none in New .Zealand, but they will have to. give tho fullest and most ;reliable' information, or Now Zealand growerswill not be much influenced by their remarks. May I also point out tlmt a,very largo proportion of tho last English clip is still in tho hands of the farmers, and that that fact has ■boen oiie of the factors of tho present fall in wool?—I am, etc., May 11. ' INTERESTED.
