"THE DOMINION."
a Question of circulation'. Although The Dominion has been, in existence little more than .seven it has been received with such favour by tho ■ general public that it • already occupies a prominent place amongst the established" institutions of the community. Practically from its earliest iesues its circulation ex- . ceeded l that of any other morning paper in the Wellington' province, and it has gone steadily ahead,, increasing its; advantage from month to month. • In last Friday's, issue of this paper the following announcement was published, and hak .since been repeated daily:— • v Y.'.i , ■■■■~ "'The Domlnlcn'has the largest circulation of any morning paper published In tho Province, It Is to bo found everywhere.'' ■ Also an accompanying intimation as un- " der:— ' The Dominion' Is the host advertising medium throughout tht ■ country\dlstriots. Its range of circulation lo unequalled." , These announcements are positive enough— they leave no room for quibbling. They state emphatically that The Dominion has ■ the largest circulation of any morning paper in the Wellington Province. , Curiously enough, on the morning / iollowins our announcements, the " New Zealand Times" appeared with the following intimation on its title-page for the ' first' time: "The . Times has the largest fully-paid circulation of 'any morning paper in- this province." What our contemporary means by "fullypaid circulation" we do not'know. Appar- ■ ently it admits' : that .The Dominion .has a , larger circulation than the " New Zealand . . Times" can claim credit for, but suggests , that The Dominion does not receive full payment for its papers. Coniing from our morning ' contemporary; this latter- sugges-; ■ tion is amusing. The matter, ' however, can : bo tested in f very, simple, fashion.'. We are prepared -to'' submit to an independent investigation of. tho circulation of . Thb Dominion provided the "New Zealand Times " 'Company .is prepared ;to submit to « similar investigation of its'paper's circulation. There need be no' delay—tho ques- \. • tion can be settled immediately. Advertisers will then see where their best interests lie.'
