- A NEW DIRECTOR APPOINTED. A . telegram , has . been . roccivcd from \ Christchurch ; stating that Mr. J. B. j Reid, tho proprietor of the far-famed/ Eltlerslio Estate, near Oamaru, and 1 f well-known in sporting-"circles; has been appointed, a director of the Bank of New Zea-' land, vice -Mr. F. do C. Malet, resigned., Mr. Reid, whq is a native of Victoria, came! to New Zealand as a child, and jwas .brought j up to station life; having spent'-' many years j of his life' on the estate mentioned. ,There, amongst' tho big breeders of South Canterbury and North Otago, he gained con'-, siderablo knowledge and' experience of stud I stock, and became an expert, in sheep-breed-j ing and matters appertaining to tho land j generally, which should stand him in good; stead in the performance of his now duties. I His services as a judge havo oft-en^been requisitioned;. and always with satisfactory re- / suits.
