ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.
[BY TEUSOIUHI. —MESS. ASSOCIATION.] Timaru, May 6. Mr. O'Menra, of tho Stock Departniont, attempted to commit suicide at Teniuka this afternoon. In passing a- butcher's shop ho grabbed a knifo from the sill, walked on a yard or two, and then gashed,lns throat in two or three places. . Bystanders throw him down and took the knife from him, and rendered lirst-aid. He was taken to a private hospital. , His injuries, though serious, aro not cxpectod to bo fatal. Mr. O'Meara, w ho is about to lie transferred to Mastor- , ton, ha 3 been very- depressed, for the last few days. 110 is much liked at Tomuka.
