Tho adjourned inquest on the body of the boy Aloxander Edgar M'Phoe was resumed i 'st 3 o'clock this afternoon. It was decided that 'it .was unnecessary to talco further. evidence, the facts having been brought out at the. magisterial inquiry into the collision. Tho verdict was as follows . " That deceased mot his death by drowning in Otago Harbour on" April 13 through = being thrown out of the oil launch Matakana, which came into collision with the steamship Lady Roberts, such, collision being caused bv tho careless'handling of the launch by her owner, 1 Joseph Coddoi, particularly so by his shifting the tiller at a critical moment, thus taking his boat right across the bows of the Lady Roberts, and' we really think him .guilty.of manslaughter." , Consequent on the finding of tho jury at the inquest, Joseph Coddoi, 'owner of the Matakana, was arrested this afternoon on a charge- of manslaughter. Accused was brought before tho Court, and remanded for a week. Bail was allowed, accused in recognisance of £100, and two sureties of £60 each.
