MR, PERRY'S VIEWS.
Many Wairarapa farmers are already expressing the opinion that tho_ late drought is proving some sort of a'blessing. Pastures aro showing wonderful growths, and rape croi)s are . more forward than .they have ever been in any corresponding time in previous 3, years. Those who have turnip crops express themselves as well-satisfied with them. Mr. W. Perry, who is possibly 'due of tlio if mos t observant farmers in tho whole Of New il Zealand, informed our Wairarapa correspondent that in his opinion a very ( drv season was what tho land had badly required for some tim'e. The succession of very wet seasons had soddened tho earth, making it 1 stale, cold, and unresponsive, and extreme heat was necessary in order to correct this.' Mr." Perry admitted that perhaps the drought ) exceeded its limit of timo by about threo weeks, but ho stated that ho had never seen such extraordinary growths of pastures k as had been . experienced in tho Wairarapa 1 during the past fortnight. Ho had never before had so much rape at this timo of the J yoar as he had now. With a continuance of the very mild wqather now being experienced, j Mr. Perry thought that tho season, after all, would hot be so very bad for the farmers. These opinions aro generally borne out in evory direction. Tho dairy factories are receiving such satisfactory milk supplies that they will probably continue in working order to tho end of this month , as in previous , years; and in the stock market, store sheep .
