i -6 : — . GATJLT AND GOSLING MATCHED. Mr. B. W. M'Villy presided at a meeting of the Wellington Boxing Association held in Armit's' rooms last evening. Mr. J. A. Hunter, of Nelson, wrote asking whether he would' be allowed to compete at the Wellington tournament, and whother the Centre'would allow him any expenses. It was decided to inform Mr. Hunter that ho could compete, but they could not allow any expenses. • . A telegram was received from Mr, Waddoll, of Timaru, offering to match Elliott (featherweight), of that town, with B. Tracy, of Wellington, or any other (tho latter to be allowed £9 expenses) for a trophy valued at £9. It was resolved that tho secretary ascertain if Tracy could accept tho engagement. ■ ...-■' ' On the motion of the chairman,' the Hon. J.'lvigg, M.L.C., was elected a life honorary member of tho Association. In speaking to tho motion, Mr. M'Villy stated that Mr. Rigg had rendered- valuablo assistance in passing the Act of last, session, and. had proved a great assistance to the Association in gcnoral. He thought it would only bo a graceful act on their part to mako Mr. Rigg a life honorary member, and it would be an honour to tlie Association for Mr. Bigg to accept that position. Mr. Coffey, Dr. Napier M'Lean, and Mr'. Platts also added their testimony to tho aid that had been rendered tho Association, by 1 Mr. Bigg. Tho motion was agreed to unanimously. Messrs. N. Blackmoro, J. Lc Plastrier, C. Matthews, arid wore, added to the list of honorary members of the Association. Messrs. Blackmoro, Guise, and Edwards were promoted from tho honorary to tho active list of members. , A letter was received from Alfred Gault, of Auckland, asking tho Association to accommodate him with a match against anyono up to 9st. 61b., preferably Godfrey, whom he considered he had first call on, as he (Gault) was tho only boxer lie had met without succcss. It was deoided to match Gault with Gosling, t)f Wellington, for a purse of £40—■ £30 for tho winner and £10 for tho loser. Gosling was featherweight champion of .Wellington. and ex-bantam-weight champion of New Zealand. This fixture will take place at the tournament on July 13. For tho meeting on September 1 it was resolved to write to Mr. W. Corbett, tho Association's representative in Sydney, asking him to secure a man to match against J. Godfrey (9st. 41b.), preforably Green, who has been in communication with the Association.
