WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL REPORT. Tho annual meeting of tho Wellington Hockey Association is to bo held at Batkin's Rooms, this evening at'. 8 o'clock. Tlio annual report states that the Senior Championship had ono more team competing than during tho previous season, and tho contest for senior honours was unusually keen and closo. Tho number of competing teams during tho past season was five senior, ten junior, and nine third class. The goneral interest in hockey was well maintained, and tho public wcro each year be- > coming more generally interested in the game. Tho prospects for tho coming season woro tho brightest sinco hockey was first started in Wellington. As far as was known, eight teams wcro entering for the Senior Championship, and twentyr.oight. for all grades. Tho, growing popularity, of hockey,' now "seemed to ho' b'oundo'd'_by 'tho ■ groat difficulty experienced in obtaining, .'sufficient grounds, and, in fact, ono or two now clubs would have been started this season if thero had not bppn so much uncertainty regarding the number of grounds .available.Members were particularly congratulated upon two matters, viz., that tho Ferry Company, although not having tho now ground ready for this season, as expected, was making two, now grounds at Day's Bay,, which would, when completed, givo six grounds at tho Association's headquarters. Also that, owing to tho Rugby Union leaving tlio. Athletic Park, tho Committ'co had been ablo to secure a ground there for the season. This was a memorable event, as it was tho first opportunity for playing rogularly' in the City, and tho good effect upon tho gamo generally could not easily be over-estimated. It was to be much regretted that the official returns fpr tho results of -tho Junior and Third Class Championships wero incomplete, so that although the actual results as to tho winnors wore correct, yet tho details of all matches had never been supplied _by tile lion, secretary of the Referees' Association.
