DEATH TINDER PECULIAR CIRCUMSTANCES. , [BY TELEOEArn.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.! Auckland, May 5. ; A man named Thomas Pink was arrested tor drunkenness at Henderson on Friday night and placed in tho cells at the Auckland police station. Ho was apparently asleop, and attempts to wako him failed till Sunday, when ho complained of fooling queer and was removed to tho hospital where lie diod. An inquest was oponed and adjourned. A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. ' ■ Gisborne, May 5. A .voting man. Robert Burnett had his right hand caught in a pug mill at a brickworks, necessitating .amputation. An inquest on tho body of the late Mr. Joseph Petrie was opened by Dr. M'Arthur, S.M., coroner, yesterday morning. After formal evidence had;becn taken an adjournment irns mado until this'afternoon.
