Mary M'Elroy • was sent to prison for twenty-one days with hard labour for using obscene language in Marion Street on Friday night. ■ A sentence of fourteen days' imprisonment was imposed upon David M'Donald for committing an indecent act. ; An elderly man named Thomas De Roane was charged with damaging property, valued at 2s. 6d.; belonging to the Equitable Building Company. He was fined 10s., in default seven days' -. imprisonment, and ordered to pay for the damage done. ; S * A remand was granted in ( a case in which Robert Rollo was charged with the theft of a panama hat, valued at £2 2s;, the property of John 8., Lopdell. Bail, in one surety of £20, was allowed. . A charge of assaulting a Chinaman named Wang Wah was preferroa against James Nelson; alias James Johnston. Evidence was given to the effect that the accused struck and kicked the Chinaman. Nelson was sentenced to one month's imprisonment with hard labour.
