BOXING.

b y— r ANNUAL MEETING OF AUCKLAND 11 ' . CENTRE. , (BY TELEGRAPH. —SPECIA.F, CORRESPONDENT.) 3 - ; Auckland, May 2. ' Tho annual 'report of tho Northern Boxing 0 Association stated that when the committee e took- office last year tho total liabilities of j the Association, amounted to £125 4s. • 4d; _ This sum, however, had been reduced during tho past season to £85 lis. 2d. But ' for tho action of a local clnb, unaffiliated " with the New Zealand Boxing Association, f advertising an unauthorised Australasian Championship meeting on the evo of tlio New Zealand Championships (which had been allotted to Auckland by the. New Zealand r Council), a much larger reduction' of the 0 debt would havo been made. Representaj tions had been mado to the Legislature by the Now Zealand Council, with the result ' that amendments wero made to the Polico 1 Offences Act at the close of last session ,_ cancelling all existing registrations throughly nut tho Dominion, and requiring such As- ' sociations or clubs an might desire to be registered to first obtain the approval'of tho 0 Governor-in-Council. This would prevent in ° future- coteries of irresponsible individuals running boxing competitions for their own '• pecuniary benefit, .'and would eliminate other J objectionable features which, on several occasions, had brought boxing into disrepute in r ' Auckland province. . • ■: On July 22 and 29 ,the Auckland Provincial 1 Championships were held at the Royal Albert 6 Hall, and drew good .'entries. Keen interest was exhibited in this tournament, as it was 0 generally understood that the result would o guide tho committee in tho selection of tho s .provincial team to compete in tho New Zeaa land Championships'. s Tho eleetibn of officers resulted as follows: f —Patron,iMr. A.
