Hurley was appointed to represent the Chamber at the Farmers' Union dinner. : The members present spoke.in appreciation of Mr. Nash being returned as,' Mayor. Mr. Nash is an active member., i A vote of thanks was accorded the retiring Mayor for past services. i It was decided to report ta the annual meeting upon tlio re-opening; of the Cliff Road. • ; _ The much-dcsircd work of plcarinp; slips in the Gorge is now being proceeded with. The road for some time !past las been in .a very undesirable state. " i. :' The vital statistics for ■ the ironth of April are as follows:—Deaths, 12: marriages, 17: births, 24. A rather interesting feature; of last quarter's statistics was the fact that out of. 141 births for the quarter 71 were females and 70 males. This, tho Registrar states, is the first time to his knowledge vthat the number of females liavo been higher than tho males.
