FEILDING ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.
(by TELEGRAPH.—SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.) Foiltling, - April 30. The Feilding Acclimatisation Society held its meeting last night, Mr. W. A. Sandilaiids (president)' in the chair.. Tho balance-sheet showed that the receipts from shooting lioences amounted to £32 lis. 5d., and fishing licences £08 75.,, 10d..'-- The total receipts, with'£l2B Bs. 1-ld. to credit from last-year,' amounted to £229 Bs.-2d. , The principal item in the' expenditure' was £106, ss. lid. for fish ponds, and £28 .15s. was paid for ■trout fly. Tho assets, amounted to £308 12s. Id., and the only liability, was £15 9s. The chairman said it had been decided to establish ponds, instead of liberating small quantities of'fry. They had, acquired a ten-years' lease of tho property for the ponds, and the move had turned out success-, ful. The fish, which wero about six months old, ranged from three inches to eight inches in length. He had been informed that the doer in the llangiwaliia District were doing well. They had got four of the deer four years ago, and theso had increased to six, and one was a ten-pointer. They wore very tame. He regretted: the lack of interest iii tho Society 'as shown by the small attendances at the annual meetings. The Committee, had introduced' pheasants for breeding, but these had been liberated owing to the fact that it-was found impossible to get people to cultivate young birds. The stubble quail introduced from Australia were doing well. The Society had been supplying people with fish for private nonds ,free of :•cost, and he thought .tliey should cease to do so.
