SOCIAL AND PERSONAL.
,Tho Cinderella ball given on Tuesday night at the Drill Hall, Lower Hutt, was a very great success. The stage, the abode of the cliaperoncs, had been beautifully furnished and decorated with white and red. ■ .There were bunches of cosmos on tho little tables sot about, and along the front of the stage wore trails of lycopodium, and bunches of hollj*. Part of tho hall was partitioned off, furnished with seats and lounges, 1 and decorated with pot plants. The tables in the supper room, where a delicious supper was served, looked very pretty With vases filled with heliotrope and white cosmos. The committee had, in fact, made, excellent arrangements for the comfort of the guests, a number of whom had gone out from town by a special train. Tho hostesses of tile evening were Misses Matthews, Leda Lee, E. Allport,'. M. Foster, and V. Johnston, who had been• assisted in their -'work' 'by Messrs. Strauchon, Fulton, and Russell. Miss Matthews Wore a handsomo frock; of pale mauve silk, tho bodice trimmed with whito lace; Miss L. Lee, white chiffon ; 'Miss • Allport, pale pink; Miss Foster, pale blue; Miss Johnston, 1 pale pink chiffon muslin over silk, with trimmings of pale pink and green; Miss Hayward, the debutante of the .evening, Wore a charming Empire frock:of soft white satin, with chiffon trimming and sleeves of beautiful Irish, lace ;Miss Treadwell. pink accordionpleated -chiffon; Miss Bodmin, pale pink; Miss Elliot, painted chiffon"; Miss Rose, pale pink silk; Miss Lukin; white frock.; Miss S. Lukin, pale blue;.Miss,Eileen Lingard, cream frock with trimmings of amethyst.;. Miss Morris, ; pale grey With touches of cerise; Miss Greenfield,; pale pink chiffon.; Miss Greenfield (from Ballarat), pale'blue. Among other guests present were Mesdames Eljiot, Treadwell, Jones, Soatoii, Kingdon, Allport, and Hay ward, and Messrs. Stevenson. Hitchings, Bridges- (3), Prouse, Ulrich, Thomson, Blnckmore, TCeece, Poynter, Cnllender, Russell, Kempthorne, .Treadwell, Mirams, Nancarrow, Lang, Chapman, and Woodhead. Our Feilding correspondent ''says:—Mr. Allen M'Kenzie, third son of Mr. R1 B. M'Kenzie,-b!; Carnarvon., was married at St. John's Church yesterday to Miss Mina Biiins, ;eldest daughter of Mr. F. C. Binns, of Miss M'Kenzie (sister of the'', bridegroom? attended as bridesmaid. The brido was given away by Mr. E. P. Binns, her! eldest brother, and Mr. John Guthrie' was best man. On Tuesday. evening an excellent" lecturo /.was'delivered by Dr. Agnes Bennett to the members of. the St.. John-, Ahbulanco. District Nursing Guild on "The Lungs and Their Care." Mrs. S. A. Rhodes, Associate of ;the Order, of St. John of Jerusalem, pre.sided, and among those present were a number of Sisters from the Island, Bay Homey of .Compassion. On the motion of Mrs. Rhodes a very hearty, vote of thanks was accorded to the lecturer. , Lady Hector was , a passenger by, the Arahura, which arrived from the We3t Coast and Nelson last : night.
