A meeting of the Old Girls' Association . was held in the Girls' College yesterday afternoon, to make final arrangements. for their part' in the bazaar Which is to open at; tho Collogo on Friday evening next. The. object is to further the cause of the Ramabai ■ mission, and when once people see the very charming and beautiful objects that havo oomo all the way from India, they will 'find it difficult to pass on and not buy. Some, of ,the work is really most exquisite,. particularly the white embroidered muslin' dross robes, filmy silk fascinators of soft 'colours I that add such a charm to tho face, embroidered cushion covers, table centres, and ( cosy covers. ' It is difficult t-o believe that tho little Indian child-widows can do''such wonderful work. There aro also curtains most richly and'goigeously embroidered, and beaten brass work from Benares, really every variety of work. Besides tho Indian work, there is much both useful,,and pretty that has been done, by the present girls of tho College. Lady Ward'will open the bazaar on Friday .evening at 8 o'clock, and 'doors will be opened at 7.30. The bazaar will continue on Saturday afternoon and evening as well. Miss Hudson, from Ashburton, is staying with Mrs. C. E. Richardson. Miss Scales, of the Lower Hntt, is leaving on Friday for a visit to Sydney. _ Miss Munro, from Now Plymouth, is visiting Miss Turner. ; The Misses Bannister (two) are leaving by the Ulimaroa oil Friday for a visit to Australia. ' _Mrs. Perston, who has been staying with Mrs. Stewart in Hill Street, has gone -to Sydney to attend tho wedding of'her niece', and;expects to be away for two months. ' Mrs. Walter Nathan has,.issued invitations for a dance to bo. given in Sydney Street Schoolroom on, Wednesday, May 13. _• At Petone yesterday afternoon Mr. Ai-thur Hancox, second son of Mr. W. G. Hancox, was married to Agnes Eliza Poulter,' youngest daughter of Mr. 'Poulter,' of -Kaikoura. The bride was attonde'd by Miss Ethel Griffiths as bridesmaid, and Sir. D. .M'lrityre was best man. After, the ceremony, which was conducted in the house of the bridegroom's parents, 11 Queen Street, a number of interested and friends sat'down to a wedding breakfast. Many handsome presents testified to the popularity: of the ' happy couple, who commence ( their' married life In Auckland. The Rev; B. Metsou was the officiating clergyman.
