At an inquest touching the death of the child Albert Fox, who died suddenly on Sunday, . tho verdict was' "Death "from natural 'causes." ■ KILLED ON THE RAILWAY.: Auckland, April 28. John Barrett, oi single man, aged 45 years, was- killed on a railway crossing last night. Tho last train fr6m Wailii was approaching a level crossing near Paeroa,- when tho driver noticed a dark objcct on tho line'and-at-tempted'to pull up, hut,the train wont over Barrett, who-was killed instantaneously. v MINING FATALII'Y. -n ' ~.. j.' ' SUICIDE.: ' ; CiirJstoliurch, April ,27. A young man named J. Craig-committed suicide at feouthbridgo on Saturday morning, by shooting, himself-, with a shot-gun. .' DEATH ON A STEADIER. An inquest touching tho death, bf-Patrick" Kelly who died on board tho lonic on Monday afternoon, was . held at tho Morgue vesteixlay, before Dr. M'Arthur, S.M. Charles William M'Kimm, second engineer on tho. lonic,■.identified the body as. that of 1 atnek ■Kelly. Deceased-was a married man, leaving a wife, son; and daughter in land. the last trip, ho'told witness tnat lie had sciatica, otherwise ho did not complam about liis health. A few minutes after the roll .call (2 p.m.). on Monday ho said that lie. felt unwell, and would liavo to go and turn m. Witness was informed about an hour and a ha f later by tho fifth engineer that Kelly was dead. James Burridge, electrician, ,gavo corro--borativo evidence. Ho also stated 1 that Kelly complained of a lump in his left groin. Dr. Elder, tho ship's doctor, stated that he had never heard deceased complain as to his state of health. He made an examination, and considered that death was due to heart failure. The lump mentioned was of no consequence. t Dl. Fyito,- who made a posfc-mortoni examination, stated that there was an antemortem clot in the heart, and this , was tho ca M® 'loath, aided by chronic lung disease i /ttithout retiring, tho jury returned a .verdict in accordance with tho medical evidence. SUDDEN DEATH AT PETONE. ■ An inquest was held at.Petono at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon, by Mr. W. G. Riddell, b.M., in connection with tho death of Samuel James who had been emploved at the Kailway Stores. Evidenco was given bv three storemen to tho effect that tliev founcl Urcgson lying on tho floor of tho store, apparently dead. Dr. Harding, who conducted a post-mortem examination, stated that death was caused by tho largo quantities of blood which filled tho cavities of tho heart and lungs,, ouo beimr diseased. . b A verdict in accordauco with tho medical ovidenco was - returned. ' ' A singlo man named Georgo Parkinson rosidmg' at 1.4 Milton Street, mot with an accidont yesterday. Ho was engaged in tho work of coaling the iMoiiowai from tlio hulk Dilijussund, and was pushing a basket of coal alont; a plank to the steamer. Tho basket caught on tho plank, and Parkinson fell oh to tho debk of tho hulk, frrictiiriii" ono of the small bones of the right foot?
