THE YACHT PETREL.
(by telegraph.—special correspondent) . . Dunedin, April 27. . Messrs. M'Koegan and Lambert's yacht Petrel, five tons, arrived at the Hoads from Wellington on Saturday night, and went on to Broad Bay. Tho Petrel loft Wellington on Monday evening last, and encountered tho northerly gale of Tuesday, when. she. was reported by tho Rotomahana as doing well. Akaroa Light was picked up 011 Thursday evening, tho wind' boin'g a two- ■ roofer from tho nor'-west. • Timaru Light was sighted at 3 a.m. 011 Saturday, and at 9 a.m. tho yacht was abreast of Oamaru,, from which sho carried,i lino wind aft right to Broad Bay. The only accident of the trip was thy springing of tho boom somo twenty miles south of Cape Campbell, but it was soon spliced, and/saw the trip out. Mr. P. .Moore, of Wellington, was. ono of the crow. The Petrel is said to be tho smallest yacht that has ever made tho trip from AYdHiifto iu,nWi«'
