Ho was subject'to fits, and it is believed fell from a horse, which was. found 1 on the .roadside with a'stirrup gone. . FOOTBALLER INJURED. • Auckland, Am-il 27. While 'playing, practice football,"a young man named Archie Ferguson, a member the Torpedo Corns at Fort • Cautley, sustained. internal injuries. He was removed to the Auckland Hospital. . A-sad accident occurred at Miramar on l Sunday evening, when a little girl, aged twenty-three months, named Dorothy Jacksoii, was drowned in a hole used for refuse, containing-about- sixteen'' inches of water. The girl was playing about tho yard, having just had a bath, and sho must have fallen into tho hole, which was four feet squaro and two and ,a half feet deep: Her father missed her,'- and after' a search he found her.m: the hole.- . . An inquest was held before Dr. "M'Arthur, S.M., yesterday afternoon; Evidence was given by the father, a labourer,'and Drs. ■ Cameron and Bowerbank, all of whom arrived.too laterto. be-of any assistance. SUDDEN DEATHS: ! A man named Samuel James .Gregson, aged 42, a casual labourer at the Petono Railway Works, died, yesterday afternoon. The de- 1 ceased- was seen by his mates, William Jones : and Joseph -Ryan, at 4:10 p.m., but ten 1 minutes later ' John Hailwood saw him on the floor, and found him to be dead. Dr 1 Harding was sent for, but he could, only pronounce-life to -be extinct. Deceased was born at- Bermuda, - and: was a single' man An .inquest will probably be held. A boilermaker on the lonic,.named Patrick Kelly,' died suddenly on board' the vessel yesterday afternoon. Except for a slight cold he / had -a .few. weeks ago ho was in good health, but yesterday afternodn he got unwell and went to bunk. His room-mato, an 1 electrician', : named J. Burriclgo/'i saw ■ him lying on' tbe bed, and noticed that he was very still.' Burridgo went over and found that he. was dead; An inquest-will be held - at the Morgue by Dr. M'Arthur at 4 "p.m. ! to-day. A' man named Samuel Gregson, single, a casual labourer at tho Petone railway stores, , was found dead at about 4.30 p.m. yesterday by Mr. John Horlwood. Dr. Harding was called in, and, after examining ; the body, said he could not give a certificate 1 as to the cause of death. The police moved : the body to the Grand National Hotel. An 1 inquest will be held to-day.
