Association, to' he-pre-sent e-d at tho annual meeting oii Thursday ,riext, : at Carterton;, shows, that tho total receipts woro £1690 65./od-, and. tho-gross . expend jturo.£l76ij 16s. ,lld. The ■commenced the year .'with' ,an overdraft of j£233 19s. 2d.,-which has been increased' to £273; 17s. 3d.,..but against'this, sum is .an .'item of £303 12s. for permanent • improvements. The' ; assets'are.,set down as £3110 -lis; 8(1.; liabilities, £297 .'l7s. : 3d. annual; report,. ;to-' ; be submitted- by Mr. H. M'Pheo, president of the' Association, states., that , the; •committee desires to-.'con-gratulate' members, on the. very satisfactory position.- the balance-sheet' occupies "/after thirty- years' ■ There .is an increase in the .overdraft at the ■ ond ,'of the 'year.! of : £40, but this, ■ however, is qualified by £303 Qf« permanent; improvements effected, >thus :prafij;ically. showing; a; profit on -.twelve 'months, of; £263." Tho' committee' is pleased :to note' , that'-tho; membership steadily., increases,'' 'though'' in* a; small degree. All the alterations and additions to the'ground'were ;-wpll planned and efficiently carried out under ;ih'e;supervision of Mr. W: B. Allen,' o£ Clare'ville. '"The committee/regrets that' the- date of the last show--clashed with the' sjiow • at Hawera, thus losing to. the . society a lew exhibitors - from r'Palmcrstbn and elsewhere. .But it isjpleasing to. note that the entry fees-show 4 considerable increase over! those '.of;,-the.' previous 'year, .namely v -£25. Tho show receipts are ,£36 less,' but this decrease attributable to, the change/of ar•rangemeintS in disposing, of privileges, which silly.; 'realised £27/ -It is.- a 'great pleasure W>. report.-'as to .gifts^'<if..valuable challenge :. trophies .to the •. society... Messrs.. Qilibell Bros; donated •a -; handsome '• challenge cup, which was. allotted by.\thb .committee for the ;.most ' points' in any' one- breed of pure bred sheep, and was-handsomely won,by Mr. W. ■Percy. Mr. D. Douglas .gave a valuable challenge cup for competition for the most points : in" southdown classes. r This- was -won by 'Mr'. J. Strang. ;■ Messrs., W. C. Buchanan apd H.^R.: Bunny donated a beautiful challenge shield for .competition in agricultural work ,in tho Wairarapa schools. 4 This was won'for .the year by. the, .Gladstone school with the maximum _ number of. points. . The committee extends it>hearty thanks - to' these ;do'nors, and' all .those who : contributed,towards, the. prize, fund; also' to. the; judges, and stewards, whose painstakihg "and, efficient so" materially-'towards'the success ;„bf. the sKovr..
