Prico,''Premier-of South Australia, addressing! tho members of "tlio Liverpool Produce Exchange, said; that if the merchants of Liverpool gave South Australia more for'her produce than she was gettiiig in London, sho would send direct to Liverpool, and would smash, up nil the economics .in tho world by giving a bonus in the form of a subsidy to ships to come to Liverpool. This statement was .received with applause. Thoy would, some day,- continued the speaker, understand : the wisdom of giving Australia sorno kind of preference. ' Australia . certainly intended to offer British people preference in trado matters. A correspondent of tho " Daily Tolegrapii " asserts that, owing to the Australian live per cent, preference duty on eloctrical fittings, a company at Hammersmith has engaged eight hundred additional hands.
