Certain industrious market gardeners, who hail from China, arc causing Marshlands regreat deal of anxiety on account of their industry, and renewed zeal on Sundays. The matter , had reached such an acute stago that representations were made to the Eolice on the subject, and this morning, Yee orig, 'Wong Set, arid Yee Fong were charged under the Act of Charles II with working in their gardens on Sunday in view of a public road., '■ .•. ' Two constables stated that,, on the date mentioned, . Yee Long was washing cucumber seed, '"Wong Set was.hoeing, and Yee.Forig was picking over tomatoes for'the Monday's market.' The police had. taken action as a result of tho complaints of tho neighbours of the" Chinamen. - Yee .'Fong was the owner of tho. garden, and the other two were gardeners working for him. ■ The two garden labourers • were fined, ss. and, costs each, and Yee.Fong 10s. and costs.
