AN AGGRIEVED THEATREGOER. Sir, —In Reading your paper re report Saturday performance of "Cinderella," remark is made of disorderly, conduct by family circle patrons. Your reporter should havo informed himself, of reason, which was too much crowding, and tho ushers putting a man in a seat, who so. crowded a woman that- lie sat .on, her ;lap, and sho had to leave. The tfcoplo did not think it fair, and therefore showed they didn't think so by making a row. Also you say that peoplo in family circle "chucked" chocolate boxes at tho stage. It was peoplo, below that did that. I was in a seat to see that. I don't think companios act fair to tho public in crushing as tnoy do. I see, others are writing to the papers, and hopo some people would stir up enough, to make things hotter. Hope you will be fair reporting next time, and not blame working. people, who' seem to get no name . for being thought well behaved by either' papers or people who havo money, and perhaps not so much manners as wo have.—l.am, etc., • FAIR PLAY'TO FAMILY CIRCLE. . April 21. >- ORIENTAL BAY. , Sir,—Look here, sir, tho Oriental Bay residents properly protested' the other day against ..the "road widening" in that quarter of • the: city in the manner laid down by the City Engineer. The protest resulted in that gentleman altering his plans. The alteration does not go far enough though. Tho present line of posts doos not follow the contour of tho coast-line closely .enough in tho first place, and,- in tho second, the lino is so...far . from the edge of the road that' nearly all tho sandy 1 beach so dear to our ■young fry. will bo lost to them for all time. The. road can'be widened sufficiently to'meet the growing demands of traffic without interfering seriously with the only "playablo" beach within miles of Wellington. Tho practical closing of this natural playground will be ■ a' bitter disappointment to hundreds of youngsters,-whose parents-cannot afford to take them to Island Bay. If a third candidate for the Mayoralty; came out even' now, and made ..the keeping open of this boach tho chief plank in-, his platform,' 'he'd give Messrs/ Hislop, and Aitken a, good run for the stakes. April 18. - POLICE PROTECTION WANTED. , " Sir, —Will you kindly allow 'me spaco in your valube; paper to call "the attention of the authorities to tho urgent necessity of the permanent appointment of a constable at the upper end of Tinakori Road, including the Botanical Gardens. Peoplo are attracted to that locality by the public'gardens during all parts of tho day; and a small number of thorn aro the most undesirable and objectionable to be found'in the district. The appointment of an experienced officer (not a is imperatively necessary. ,; Not one-half, of the objectionable practices- carried on comes to ,the ears'pf the-police or the' public.
