Yesterday afternoon, at the, Basilica," Hill otreet, Miss Zita 1 Broad, daughter of tho lato Judgo Broad, was married to Mr. George \Vaady. Tho'Rev. Father Hickson performed the ceremony. The bride worp a pretty dress .01 white satin draped with liandsomo Limerick lace,* a bridal'wreath, and embroidered veil, and sho carricd a bouquet of white ■ cosmos. .• 'Miss'' Dorothy Waiddy, tho chiof bridesmaid, wore a frock of cream ninon-de-soie, trimmed ,;with laco and bands of chiffon taffetas, finished with a sash of floral ribbon with loiig ends. - Her. palo blue glace hat was trimmed with wings of tho same shade. Thrco little nieces of the bride, tho Misses Buriny and' Cooper (two), were, also m attendance. They, wore delightful little bunchy frocks of white muslin'and embroidery; and fluffy lingerie hats, and carried quaint littio posies, one with pink streamers and two with blue; Mr. A. M Shnno acted as. best man. Miss Broad had .been for' some « a member of.-Miss Baber's- teaching staff, and-the wedding reception was held at iuiss -Saber's homo'in-Fitzherbert Terrace. Conspicuous among the wedding guests were the many whitc-frocked schoolgirls, > who drove to the church in a largo : drag, and showed their goodwill to tho bride by showering.her with flowers and confetti, as'she'came out. Mrs. Broad, mother of the bride, wore a black frock with vest of-white lace,"and carried a. bouquet of yellow flowers'; Mrs. Waddy, mother of'the bridegroom; was in blacky and white; Mrs. .Ormond Cooper}- I 'black glace with white lace, and white hat with plumes; Mrs. A. Bunny, cream dress -'with' "et blouse, and plumed hat; Miss Baber, black chiffon taffetas with touches of pirik' in her hat; Airs. Hurstljouso, heliotrope frock ;■ Mrs. E. Bunny, black and white striped silk,, and black and whit© hat; Mrs. George PearctSJ*bluo and whit© check frock, and hat . with ooque's feathprs; Mrs. E. Broad .(Palmerston North);; pretty v frock of pal© pink voile, 'with, lac© blouse, and'strappings of brown leghorn hat with .plumes and brown. roses; Miss Goode, cream' net; frock' with, floral' silk sash, and hat covered with autumn leaves. .
The, unseasonable weather spoiled . the tenuis tournament last week, but .yesterday's sun almost made up for that, and 'a. number of visitors turned-out. to watch the games at the Brougham Hill courts.. The new stand that has .been erected on , the sunny side of tho. courts met with great approval, and many pretty frocks and. hats were thero displayed.' . Lunch and afternoon tea were served in a large marquee.
