William Wallace, who appeared to answer the fifty-fifth similar charge, was fined one pound, or two weeks in gaol. Andrew Jacobs, an African pigmy, who had been several tinies before tho court ■ on 1 various charges, was fined twenty shillings,: or fourteen days' imprisonment. Frank LawW was fined ten shillings, or , forty-eight hours in gaol. John Chalmers, with a long list of previous convictions,' and Thomas Gardiner, were -each fined ton shillings] or forty-eight hours' imprisonment., William James Smith and John Hannipin were each mulcted in a similar amount, with'a liko alter- . native.-• Georgo Broughton was fined ten shillings, or twenty-four hours in gaol. Georgo Davis and Joseph Dickenson each had to pay _ fivo shillings, or have twenty-four hours' -imprisonment.. An old man, with a, wooden leg, who had a week ago requested tho police to have him committed to gaol in order to receive medical treatment, was now convicted and discharged, and ordered to pay 1 the. doctor's account and expenses incurred- : 'funds boing available, this was paid. A first offender was convicted and • discharged, with a caution and advice.
