We have received the following communication from Staff-Captain Toomcr, of tho Salration Army, in connection with the recent 'strictures passed on the management of tho institute for 'inebriates conducted .by the Army at Bell Islaiid. y ' [TO THE EDITOR.] " Dear sir,—Will you please insert, the following letter received from the Hon. J. Millar, Minister for Labour, which is the official Government answer to the statements made through the Press and on certain public platforms, some time ago, and oblige, " Yours respectfully, ' "J. " Dear sir,—Reverting to your letter of February 10 last, addressed to tho Right Hon. the Prime Minister, I have had inquiries made by the head of tho Labour Department in Auckland. lam pleased to find that nono of the alleged' irregularities in oonncction with your work at Tauranga, I'akatoa, and Bell Island exist, and your works are all that could be desired. _ "I vegret exceedingly that any aspersions should liavo been cast on the good work your people are doing. Mr. Shanaghan's (Inspector of Factorios, Auckland) report fully endorses the statements contained to the l'riino Minister. J "I have tho honom to be " Yours obediently, "J. A.
