The issue of ihe writ for the East Wolvorhamjbtoii scat, rendered vacaiit by the elevation of Sir Henry Fowler .(Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancashire), to the Peerage, has been postponed. This is attributed to tho desire of the Liberal candidate, Mr. J. Thome, to-.retire in favour of Mr. Winston Churchill (promoted to the Cabinet as President of the Board of Trade) in tho event of the latter being rejected by his constituents at North-West Manchester. Mr. C.-L. M. S. Amery (Unionist), who'at the last election was defeated by Sir Henry Fowler by 2865 votes (5610 to 2745), will again Stand iji tho Unionist interest. : ANOTHER VACANCY. ' Mil. Edmund Robertson, Liberal member of tho House of Commons for Dundee, who' was Secretary to the Admiralty in the Campbell-Bannerman Ministry, and who retired on the recont Ministerial changes, has been created a Baron. . Dundee, on tho showing of the last election figures, Js an even stronger. Liberal stronghold than Wolverhampton. There were two members returned, and the voting was:— Mr. E.
