FOOTBALL.

"WELLINGTON RUGBY UNION. A meeting of the Management Committed of the Wellington Rugby Union was held last evening. Thero were present: Messrs. J. Murray (in tho chair), W. Hardliam, G. V. Bogle, J. Sweeney, G.' F. O'Snllivan, J. Burns, K 0. Hales, l'\ Alpe, W. G. Talbot (secretary). , The Alhambra Club, Dimcdin, wrote forwarding the names of certain defaulters who, the club understood, were about, to play in Wellington. It was decided to inform tho secretary of tho Alhambra club that the Union has 110 jurisdiction in tho..matter. The. resignation of tho Brooklyn club from the Union was accepted. Tho withdrawal of tho club was stated to be due to lack of interest.

The Star club wrote entering one team for the. Wednesday competition. 'The .Wellington College club entered a team for the third-class championship and two for the fifth-class competition. The, Oriental club asked that they shxild bo allowed to enter another fourth-class team in place of the fifth-class team, previously entered. The request was granted. Tho ellington Collego Old Hoys' Club asked to be allowed to withdraw its thirdclass team from the championship contest owing to lack of players. It was pointed out that the club had also entered a fourthclass team, and a .discussion took place, as to what position the Committee, should take up. It was decided to. grant pormiwion to the club to withdraw the team.

The Polhill club was granted pnrmissi.m to play, Red Star,. Masterton, 011 Saturday, on condition that the manager of the team was appointed by the Committee.

The Selwyn chili entered teams for the second, third, fourth, and fifth-class competitions.
