Tho murder of Count Potoeki, Governor, of Galicia, wlio was shot and killed at Lomberg by a Rutheno student, was entirely a political act. , v THE RUTHENE GRIEVANCE. - A \violent-scene took place on December 1G ■in the Austrian Chamber in Vienna, arising out of a. demonstration by the Ruthene Deputies., A Slovene Deputy was wounded by a desk thrown by a Ruthene'towards tho Presidential tribune. -The sitting had to bo suspended, after a scuiflo between the Christian Socialists and the Ruthenos-had been put down. The Vienna .correspondent of ' "Tho .Times - writes: —Injustice' to the Ruthenos'it 'should .be stated that of r all Austrian groups they have most: reason to complain of the distribution .of / seats in Parliament. Although, the Austrian Ruthenes number somo 3,500,000,- as compared with -4,500,000 Poles, they were allotted only 33, while tho Poles obtained 81 seats in the new Chamber., This unequal distribution is; however, an improvement upon tho situation in tho former-Chamber, in-which-the Poles : held nearly 70 and the Buthenes only U seats. Future revisions of the electoral arrangements in Galicia will doubtless tend to ■redress i,the baltinco,'but in tho meantime the .Ruthones—whose demonstration was directed immediately against"'the 'Government :for aljoged failure, to obsorve its bargain with thom —stand- to; gain little by, ill-placed exhibitions of-violenco. - ' • - 1 ,' ■ ' i
