Hogg, J. Smith. R. Smith, D. Robertson, 11. Cook, and I l '. G. Bolton, and Mrs. Dan-all. The Finance Committee's report was adopted, and accounts amounting to £177. 4s. 4d.. were passed for payment. . • ' ' The secretary's report showed the number of inmates at,the Ohiro Home to bo 97 (66 male and 31 female), the same as last fFeek. ' ' ' ■' Tho report of the sub-committee which was ?et up to consider proposed alterations to tho Ohiro Home was submitted. ' In it it was stated that tho Home was: at i present capable of accommodating 108 inmates, if the top story wore utilised this number might be increased by 14, but to make use; of that part of tho building would necessitate. many expensivo alterations. Another difficulty iwas that of the kitchen, which was scarcely large enough for present requirements, and could not bo extended without great expense. In view, however,; of the fact that an extension of the building would have tb be made within tho next two, years, and that alterations made now might entail a greater outlay then, it was recommended that only minor, improvements be made. These included the conversion' of certain rooms and passages' so as to make better uso of tho space available, and also the enlargement of the laundry, the whole not to cost more than £100. . The Rev. \V. A. Evans moved the adoption of the report, and explained variousi clauses in it. Mr. Robertson seconded, and said that, considering 'the small expense involved, the alterations suggested were the best that could be mado., This view was endorsed by Air. Hogg. = After a short discussion, tho report was adopted. Mr. It. Smith gave notico of motion: "That in view of tho large and continually increasing number of woman who now receive aid, tke secretary present a report at the next meeting of the Trustees showing tho number, bodidos.children, and whether those women are women whose husband.? have deserted tlicm, or widows, or single women, with a view to \making an effort to procure the friends, if any. whoso duty it is to support them." A discussion was commenced when, tho notice was given, and several members pointed out that, in cases where tho husband was disabled, the wife generally made the application for aid, and it was given in her name, though really she applied for' the family. Applications for relief were then dealt with.
