Mr. Jaines Barr presided, and in iritrodueingr tho business of, tho'meeting' said that, .thoro,were/several important.matters wliioh affected tho welfaro of the district. • Tbero had been a good deal of. sickness in itlie locality, and the installation of 1 an eiTicierit system of drainage was an urgent necessity. Tho City Council had, lie understood; announced its intention of proceeding witlv tho drainage of Roseneath, and lie was of opinion that Brooklyn had as much right to the consideration, of'the City Council as had Roseneath. Another matter was the question of, securing for the district adequate representation on tho City Council, 110 moved that a Brooklyn Ratepayers' Association bo ' formed. ,'This' was seconded. After discussion, however, it, was. decided that the' Associatiombe known as the Brooklyn Municipal Electors'- Association the annual subscription for membership being fixed, at 2s. lid. .

■ Tho following were elected as officers of the : Association:—Chairman, Hon. W. W. M'Cardle, SI.L.C.; vice-chairman, Mr. G. Frost; secretary, Mr. R. Cj O'Connor; treasurer, Mr.' J. W. Hopkirk; executive committee, Messrs. Barr, Thow, Gilbert, Barras, and J; C. Brown. .

It was decided ...that tho Executive Committee convene meetings from time to time, as the necessity-arose. ' -, . 'On the motion of Mr. G. Frost,. it was resolved t "That the Executive Committen bo' instructed to draft a petition, ro drainape, for presentation to'the City Council, and that steps be taken to obtain .- 'signatures thereto." A vote of thanks to Mr! James Barr, for presiding over tho initial business of tho meeting, germinated the proceedings, which were of an enthusiastic and unanimous charactor., '■
