A Press' Association telegram from New. castle reports that. the Union Company's steamer ICaiapoi left there on Friday, for Wellington. . THE WAIHORA. The Union Company's steamer Waihora, which left. Calcutta on March 31 for Auckland via Singapore and Samarang, is expected to reach Auckland about tile first week in May. The vessel resumed her voyage from Singapore last Thursday. THE MOERAKI LEFT SYDNEY. . The Union Company's intercolonial steamer Moeraki, left Sydney at 2 o'clock on Saturday afternoon for Wellington direct. The vessel is bringing 130 6aloon and 80 steerage passengers for Dominion ports, and is expected here on Wednesday morning. <' ' • , THE NIWARU.' < ' The Tyser liner :Niwaru, which left London on February 29 for Dominion ports via Australia, reached Melbourne ou Saturday.. The vessel has yet to call at Sydney, Auckland, and Napier, before coming ' (o Wellington, whero she is expected to arrive about May 15. THE BUCERSO. Advice has. been received by the New Zealand and African Shipping Company stating that the A. and A. liner Buccros, 1038 tons left New York last Wcdnesdnv for Dominion ports. The vessel makes Auckland the first port of call, and then comes on to Wellington, being duo hero about June 20. ■ , THE RIMU CHANGES HANDS. ■ Our special correspondent at Dunedin telegraphed yesterday, that it was .understood that.
the Invercargill Shipping Company had sold the' steamer Ririiu to a Northern company. Tho Rimu is .a vessel of 358 tons register. THE TONGARIRO. Tho New Zealand - Shipping Company advise that they expect lo despatch the Tongariro for Lyttelton to-day to complete discharge of her Home cargo. . The vessel then goes on tho Homeward loading berth, her coastal time-table being as follow:—Load at Bluff, April 21 to 20; at Timr.ru, April 27 to 2S; at Lyttcltori, April 29 to Mav 2; at Waitura, May •}, 5; nt Wellington,, May 6, 7. The vessel is expected to take lier departure from Wellington on the evening of May 7 for Lonopn, via Monte Video, Rio de Janeiro, Tone* riffe, and Plymouth. THE MAORI AT AUCKLAND. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company's steamer Maori, from London direct, arrived in Auckland last Thursday after a passage lasting 5G days. The Maori left the Albert Docks, London, on February 13, and loaded explosives at Holehavcn, and left the same day for Auckland. Moderate south-west gales were experienced in the English Channel, which somewhat delayed the vessel. Teneriffe was passed at midnight on February 20, and Capo Verde in the afternoon of February 24. Light southerly winds were experienced'until crossing the equator, after which fresh south-east trades wore met with, which also'hindered the vessel's progress. The-Cape of Good Hope was passed on March 11, and from thence across the South Indian Ocean to Australia fair weather prevailed. From the meridian of Cape Leenwin, strong westerly gales and high following seas were encountered until passing the South Cape of Tasmania on April 2. Cape Maria Van Diemen was sighted at noon on April 8, strong south-easterly winds having been felt during the run across. Captain G. Nicole still commands the steamer, and with him are associated the following officers:—Messrs. H. Roberts (chief), C. M. Andrews (second). C. R. Rowliuson (third), and C. C. Batemon (fourth). Mr. S. K. Brewer superintends the engineroom department, and with him are associated the following engineers :—Messrs. S. A. Widdrington (second), R. J. Pierce (third), C. W. Saunders (fourth), J. Nicholls (fifth), with Messrs. 11. Hutchison, and ,F. S. Manvood as refrigerating engineers.. The Maori is expected to reach Wellington about Wednesday, and has 500 tons of cargo to land here! Mr. W. A. M'lntyre, who' has been. across to Ilobart for a master's certificate, has joined the Rotomahana at Duucdin as second ofiicer. The Tyser liner Whakarua, at present engaged in Homeward loading .on the East Coast, arrived in Napier on Saturday afternoon from Gisbor.ne. . The A. and A. liner Strathavori, from New York,, which is due in Wellington about April 23, resumed her voyage from .Sydney to Auckland last Friday, V ■ The. steamer Den of Ruthven is expected at Dunedin to-day, from Sydney. The vessel, after taking in cargo for Vancouver, leaves Dunedin to-morrow, for Wellington. The barque Invermay, which' was at Wellington recently discharging Liverpool cargo, left Port Chalmers on Saturday for Rockhamptoh, where she is to load wool for London.
