MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the General Committee < of the Mnsterton A. and P. Association was held on Saturday afternoon. • There were presontMessrs. J. D. Cruickshanfc (president), D. M'Gregor, junr., \Y. H. Buick, E. E. Chamberlain, 0. C. Cooper, R. J. Dagg, C. E. Daniel], E. Harper, T, P. ,Left, Jos. Morris, A. J. Percy, J. P. Perry, Wm. Perrv, A. G. Pilmcr,'Bland Rayner, G. Shaw, J. Strang, and G. C. Suininerell. ;• A Jotter was read from Messrs. Gawith and Logan, solicitors', applying for a water-right, over the new grounds for a water, supply to' Solway Homestead'/ 1 This was granted. Mr:, D. O'Rorke, the. well-known' Auckland horse-breeder, who judged the lighfborse Motion at the show, thanking' the' Association for its cothplimoiitary references to his work,. And offered a prizo of; two guineas for the best maro or gelding over fourteen hands at the next show. The offer was:accepted, with thanks. Mr. P. M'Hardy, of Palmerston .North,- 'judge of cattle at ! ' the last show, returned the cheque forwarded, to him for expenses, and asked, the-Association to accept it as a special prize for yearling Shorthorn, bulls. A hearty vote of. thanks was accorded him,: Other donations were accepted. ,' . ■Mr. E. E. Chamberlain was granted leave of absence till the expiry of his term of office, as he leaves for a. tour of the British Isles shortly. . Best' wishes were expressed bv tho chairman for a pleasant journey and speedy ' return. ' An offer was submitted by Mr. 0. C. Cooper on behalf of the Solway Syndicate of a frco gift of the arenuo leading to- the hew show grounds from tho Carterton-Masterton road. .'.The offer, was . accepted, with' thanks', and a right-of-way. over the. road was granted, by request,, to the Solway Honiestea'di ' ■ ' Tho chairman and Messrs.. D. M'Gregor and Summerell were appointed to carry out the resolution passed 'at, 1 the last ' genferal meeting for' the. sale - of the'; present show grounds, andi the purchaso of about seventy acres of tho Solway Estate.- Power was given the 'committee to''acquare a . strip of .'land, about ten chains long,-'adjoining the-avenue, sufficient, to mako the latter , a chain and a half wide,-it being riow only half'a'chain, j ' |; -Tenders were opened for grazing rights on the present show grounds, and that of Mr. T. P. Lett .it £35 10s. per year was'accepted. 1 At a meeting of' the '. Finance : Committee field in the morning, a : debit -balance at the bank, of £365 12s. 4d. was roported. . . ,An- application was discussed' from a ! John-' sonvillo oxhibitor at'.the show for payment" to him'of ten guineas on account of a ewo lost from tho show ground; It was decided to reply that, the rules of the Association stated . that no liability was undertaken for lost exhibits, and- that the Association' regretted it ; could not accede to tho request. -' 4 :
