MILK AND CREAM IN BRITAIN.

The, quantity ■ ; of fresh milk imported: iiu the fireV .seven '. .weeksVofvthisyear-• 697 .cwti',',isj'compared, with , 15. cwt. in the corresponding weeks of list year, . , whilst -of cream the 1 quantity , imported .'. was'; 1172 cwt., as com- ■' pared with 690 cwt. The milk is imported from France; and landed Vat Southampton. The cream Comes from France, Russia, Nor- ■ way, the . Netherlands, Belgium, • and 1 the; Argentine ; Republic, and is landed ./at; London, .■Harwich,'' Hull,. Newhaven, Newcastle, Southampton, Leith,-; and •,Grangemouth::■ The' in-' . formation in my possession is-not sufficient 1' to enable me to', say; how far satisfactory regulations are in, force in the' countries of origin as; to/the sanitary: conditions under which the niilk and cream are produced and handled.
