(the extra load and to tho , time occupied' in picking up and setting down goods. That class of -traffic will bo .dealt with by; fast mixed trains, that will carry passengers and goods at a speed : of about twenty miles an hour, stopping where required. »- Whether' such trams -will;tako twenty-four, or .thirty-six hours to do the .entire trip cannot -yet be clpfinitoly stated. The .passenger portion will probably travel bV day only, but the cargo may proceed overnight by goods train,, thus economising time in transit. To some extent the possibilities may be gauged by what is accomplished ; on the lines in tho South. -_ ' Farmers will be able .to ascertain approximately the freights to bo charged from tho list;here appended, which'they will do well to cut out and preserve'
