ST. HILDA'S, ISLAND BAY.

The annual meeting in connection with St. Hilda's Church Room, Island Bay, was,held on Thursday evening, the Vicar (tho Rev. J. Walker, M.A.) in the chair. Tho report and balance-sheet were read and adopted, both being of a very encouraging nature. Tne. report showed that the finances .were in. a very satisfactory condition. The general offertories amounted to ' £62 7s. Bd.j"whila special collections reached tho sum of £13 6s, od. additional. Reference was also made to the success attending the fete .held 'last December, and garden party in January, by which ■ about £125 was realised. Tho debt ou tho church property prior to these two events was £300, so that the parties' conmay well' bo gratified at the result of their efforts! Reference was made to the good work done iu the district'by tho assistant curate, the Rev.» W. Fahcourt, M.A., who entered upon his duties last May, and the hope was expressed that, before very long' it may be possible to make arrangements for building a new church to accommodate the increasing congregations. . Special reference was also made to the establishment of. a branch of tho Mothers' Union, and also':' St., Hilda's Club for Men. The Club has held successful and interesting., meetings every Monday in the Club Room. Thanks word accorded to tho Von. Archdeacon Fancourt and the Rev. D. If. Jenkins ftir kindly help rendered on various occasions, as also to tho choir arid organist,- Sunday' school teacliors, and lay readers; the Misses Chatfield for attention to the.altar vases; Mrs. Collcy and Mrs. Myjes for care of, the church room, and the' collectors- for the Snstontatioii Fund. Mr; Robbiris, the retiring secretary, was thanked for; past'servicos, and his place ivas filled by the election of Mr. T..Proctor, -Mr., Wilkoning being re-electod treasurer. Tho following is "the now Committee:—Ate-ssrs. M'Ewan, Murrell, Doherty, Robbing, Smith, F'cksou,-and Collcy. .
