Whon tho oonference between tho strikers' representatives and the • Employees' Fedora- v tion (on ibohalf of the coastal steajnsbip companies) adjourned on Wednesday, the chief point at issue was. whether . mombecs' of ,tho Institute of Marine Engineers, should return to work, while .allowing the engineers who have been engaged> on the. coastal boats during the striko to complete the terms of their agreements with the companies, some of which arb stated to run to twelve months. ■ At a ballot txnlay the Institute decided to allojiv tho freo engineers to oomplete their agreements. Subsequently, a mooting of representatives of the coastal companies accepted the provisional agreement. A meeting of the unions affected is now in progress. Tho latest roport is that they have refused to agree'to certain proposals, in the agreement, and that tho striko remains unsettled. • ,
