An Auckland Press Association telegram states that the: iron barque Hazel Craig, 487 * tons, which was to have been submitted to iiuctinn yesterday, was disposed. of privately m Wednesday night, the purchaser being Mr. 3. intention to employ licr in the Kaipara-Sydney trade. The Hazel Craig was built 29' years ago at Aberdeen, and was formerly known as the Quothlamba. Her late owners wore the Hazel Craig Shipping ICO., of Gisborne. AUCKLAND'OVERSEA SHIPPING returns: A Press Association message states that the oversea shipping returns for the port of Auckland, for the year ended March 31, as shown by. the quarterly returns compiled by the Customs Department, stato that during the' twelve months 261 vessels, of an aggregate tonnage of 523,021 tons, and comprising a crew of 12,317,. arrived at the port fi;om abroad. These figures show a decrease, as compared with the previous twelve months, when 271 vessels, of a total tonnage of. 613,706 tons, and a crew of 16,107, entered; the port." The departures for the past twelve months were 231, representing a tonnage of 3G2,RG7 tons, and a crew of 9593. For the twelve months ended March 31, 1907, the \number of vessels was 220, the tonnage being 3G9.G19 tons, and tlie creiv 121,203. The decreases that are shown by the above figures are due to the cessation of the running of the San Francisco mail boats, which wire arriving and departing during the year 1906-7, but which have not been in commission during, the past twelve months, "lie double arrival and departure of each mail boat on each trip assisted materially to swell the figures for 1900-7, otherwise the figures for the past year would have shown a marked increase.
