The, old houses adjoining Borner's Hotel, the collapse of which killed or injured a number of people, collapsed without warning. There were thirty-five inmates.. .Eight bodies have been, recovered,... and twenty-one persons have beon rescued alivo. Hundreds of police and firemen put forth tremendous exertions to extricate the others. The accident was, duo to disturbance of tho foundations while rebuilding work was. being dono at an adjoining warehouse. ,
