Hogg, M.P. for Jlastert-on, has procured a return showing that during tho financial year just ended 179,612 tons of State coal wore conveyed from tho Government mines to various seaports. Wellington absorbed 38,042 tons, Lyttolton 30,152 tons,' •Greymouth 24,601 / tons, Dunodin 19,627 tons, vVangamii 11,451 tons, Foxtcn 9422 tons, New Plymouth 5355 tons, Bluff : 8047 tons, Westport 5766 tons, Napier 5705 tons, whilo tho ; State itself appropriated 114,714 tons, valued at £109,969. Freight and -insurance, altogether cost £50,428, of which the Union S;S- Company received £38,943. *■
