Colleges setting forth the general . scope ° of' the proposed scholarships, and asking for suggestions from the; science professors regarding the subjects of research. " I cannot understand the telegram from . Auckland saying that tlie.v did not .' receive.: .. this letter,' I .said Mr; Fowlds. "The.lnspec-tor-General of Schools, when hp was down j here, consulted with, tho' Otago ; professors, ■ and will .do the'same at Christchurch on his • way North, and, after -.consultation with the. Wellington' professors;;, ho;'will go 'to' Auckland for personal consultation with tho professors there."
